Barrows advice for Cmbt 107

I've recently started doing barrows using the good old slayer dart method. The thing is i'd like to try it with Melee but am unsure whether it would be viable at my level. I know that sounds a bit silly... I have 83attack 80strength 80def 77range 76mage. I tried it once with the whip and got nowhere. Should I fork out for Verac's set, as i've seen people do well using it in barrows?

 

The main point of melee vs slayer dart is I could sell the runes I get rather than needing them to replace what i have used. Food and prayer pots are not an issue as i have stockpiled over 2k tuna taters i made, as well as a few hundred prayer pots.

 

Can you melee all the brothers or are you still best to range ahrim? I tend to use protect from mage from him anyhow as he seems to get some good lucky hits in. 1 lap usually i use 1 prayer pot 4 and maybe 2-3 food, but i'm guessing id need something to restore my stats with me if i was to melee since lovely ahrim can drop ur stats.

 

I know there's a million guides for barrows but i'd just prefer to get advice that best suits my combat levels.

most people will either use a gs or verac...verac would be more value for money imo...gs arent worth the high prices unless you are going to be up against graardor or zammy boss...i think ranging ahrim is better and 77 range shouldnt be too bad just use msb spec with rune arrows...after a while you won't need to pray at ahrim (when your level gets high: def and mage levels i mean) and when you melee guthan, torag and verac you don't really need to pray too...first try torag without pray, then guthan without pray and finally verac...if you are really comfortable not praying against these 3 then try out karil but he seems to be able to hit quite hard sometimes when he gets lucky even though ive 99 def =S

Thanks for replying.. So basically dont bother with melee unless i'm using gs/verac. I think i'l go but a verac set and give it a go.
