May 25, 200521 yr default.8dgtrndm (eight random digits) is the name of your default Firefox profile. If you create a new one, through the profile manager (Start -> Run -> firefox[Caution: ExecutableFile] -profilemanager) then the profile folder is called Thenameyouentered.8dgtrndm (different random number.) What exactly are you trying to backup? The best way I've found to do this is using the Bookmark Backup extension which backs up all the profile data you select. Obviously, you can just copy and paste the profile folder to a remote location, but you don't really need to backup 100 megs worth of cache, and your history is going to be fairly useless in 3 months' time. Where the bloody hell are you?

May 26, 200521 yr Correction to self from earlier post: profile folders begin, not end, with eight random digits. Make sure you close Firefox before you start this :) So copy my instructions into notepad or somethnig. Go to old profile folder. Select following files and copy (ctrl+c) bookmarks.html, cert8.db, cookies.txt, formhistory.dat, key3.db and signons.txt Go to new profile folder. On windows XP that'll be C:\Documents and settings\%YOURWINDOWSXPACCOUNT\Application data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\8dgtrndm.YOURNAME\ If you can't find application data, go to tools -> folder options -> view -> show hidden files and folders. Then paste (ctrl+v) the files you have copied and choose to replace existing files. --- That what you wanted to know? Where the bloody hell are you?
