Im making a pure prayer account/skiller just for fun and Ive always wanted to figure this out ok when it comes to melee based attacks you can use protect from melee and steel skin to block from other players. But lets say I was fighting a mage am I just stuck with protect from magic and rapid heal or does steel skin have any effect in reducing damage?

Your defence does play a small role in magic attacks, but not enough to be efficent to the prayer drain amount. :? So, you could use it, yes, would it really help? Not really.
