My mouse isn't working properly. Please help. SOLVED

Basically when I'm moving my mouse about, the cursor keeps flying off the screen and will remain in the corner of the screen until I lift my mouse and move it again. However this is not a problem with the actual mouse because I have the same problem with another mouse and these mice both work fine with my other computer.

If it helps, the computer which it is not working with is a six month old laptop running vista. This problem has only recently started happening and there was no problem for the first few months of use but recently I've been experiencing this problem more and more. Also, at least one of the mice is definitely compatible with vista so I don't think that is the problem.

Please help, I'd be grateful for any feedback.

SOLVED

I fixed it. I tried a third mousemat (one that wasnt so shiny this time) and this seems to have fixed the problem. :D
