In HD, swarms look like just dots. If you are in the middle of an activity, this can be quite annoying

 

So my suggestion? Make the bugs change colour and shape dependant on where they are. Well, shape could be constant and the colour could be an obvious one that suits all environments. I don't care. Just change it!
