I have started Shilo Village and I've already given Trufitus the belt and asked all the questions. When I go to dig on the mound of dirt I get a message saying that I don't know what I'm digging for so I give up. I went back to talk to Trufitus again and he tells me that he doesn't have any more information at this time. What do I need to do or what can I do to get down in the cave?

This issue frequently arises. You need to read all of the scrolls that you can collect, and then go through ALL of the dialog options with him. It takes a while before you will see the dialog options change.
