NACHO
i've been considering buying this because it is only 59 dollars, but i wanted to know if you guys think its worth it, or will i be disappointed?
venomai
If you aren't very talented when it comes to digital painting, you have no tablet, no ps/painter, or you lack the other basics, then there isn't much point in paying for bryce. It was created as a landscape/scenery generation program, and thats what its good at, but even after the fully finished renders and modeling, the scene will still need a lot of painting over it before it will look complete. Its not too great for abstracts or any type of modeling (excluding architecture or terrain generation). Not worth the $59 IMO, unless you are truely skilled with digital paintings and want to go the extra step in your landscape art.
Nadril
Well, I still use Bryce 5 (belive it or not) for abstracts. And i do fairly well. better than paying 1000's for 3dsm or so :)

If you want an easy begginer program to work with go for it. Well if you are going for abstracts, its a good program because of all the boolean/metaball support (but past that, not many more options without making sphere/torus abstracts) but for realism modeling its pretty weak. In which case... a free program such as Blender 3D or Anim8or would be a much better choice. And since a lot of the free programs also offer boolean modeling, you can make some similar stuff even in those programs. Of course, if you plan on getting heavily into architecture/landscape, feel free! Its a good investment for that. :)
Nadril
Also if you want to do the Archetecture/landscape, check out Vue 4. it was like 50-60$ last time i checked. I bought it for that price and am very happy with it :)

Abstracts shouldn't be too difficult though (just as easy as they would be in most other programs).

I actualy prefer using it over C4D and the likes, but thats because i'm used to it
