October 4, 200817 yr Note: It MAY seem a little boring but I'm really running out of things to write about the Ardougne Plague stuff. If you've kept up, I just wrote a huge 3-part story about it. This will probably be my last piece about this because I'm experimenting with new storylines and characters. Just bear with this one please. :) Another thing you have to understand about my writing is everything relates to other stories in the series. The mourner in this story is the same renegade elf that got killed from seren's distress parts 2 and 3. A Day in the Life of a Mourner -This is an entry from the diary of an Ardougne mourner. It was found neatly between two rocks neat the entrance to West Ardougne. The contents of this entry are fully based on experience of the soldier and could possibly lead us to figuring out how exactly the life of a plague mourner is like. The first of October: Morning It was a brisk night, therefore I had slept well. I awoke from my barracks to the sound of new death guards training. It was a Wednesday and I was not scheduled for drills until at least noon. I laid in bed for about 10-15 minutes daydreaming before fully awakening. I got dressed in my mourners outfit to keep the world thinking that the plague exists. Hah, foolish people indeed. A plague causing a multi-color outbreak of sheep? Don't be ridiculous. I figured I'll start work early since I had nothing to do that day. I exited the city with great caution as the door separating east and west Ardougne is very heavy and I slammed myself in it a few times as a newcomer. I guess I wasn't as strong back then, and I'm still not. But I am loyal. To sound as humble as possible, I believe they're somewhat lucky to have hired me. If there is one thing I hate about my job, it is that I was not put on the Prifddinas Death Guard. I mean, essentially it's the same thing as being a mourner but in a different and much nicer location. Ah, the beautiful city of Prifddinas. If only at least the Iorwerth clan was allowed in. That's another thing I hate. I am working for the traitors. The same clan that ran out the other elf clans and locked the city to everyone. But I guess if you're fighting, you're better off on the winning team, eh? The first of October: Noontime Well, I have 10 more minutes until drills start so I better be leaving this diary now. I really hate the stuff we do. It's the same every day. I've become a first class soldier in just a month! I think I deserve to be at least the one commanding the troops. Well, beggars can't be choosers. The first of October: Evening The drills today were actually less rigorous. The spear drills were cut much shorter and the ranged drills didn't involve hitting many small targets. Someone shot his friend in the ear because he thought it was a paper duck! Lesson, do NOT stand to close to the targets and definitely make sure there are no tears in your gas mask. Also, the meanest drill instructor was out today with a massive hangover. Goddess bless the drink! Speaking of which, my favourite ale was served at dinner tonight, along with imported kebabs. Thing is, my mother always said, "Life is like a kebab. You never really know what you're gonna get". Five people actually got food poisoning! We're thinking of filing a hit on the wise old man for this one. I better retire early tonight, there's something in kebabs that always makes me sleepy. Plus, I have an early drill tomorrow. Hope it goes as well as today.
