Fist of Guthix f2p guide-hunting and defending (will update)

Featured Replies

Hello there, this guide here is to help f2p people get tokens in fist of guthix and to get them a decent rating. In this guide I will show you the many ways to take your opponent down, and to stay alive as long as possible.

Hunting:

Method 1: Melee/mage

Required stats:

-40 attack

-60+ strength

-41+ magic (being able to use any blast spell is most efficient)

Required Equipment:

-Weapon: Rune Scimitar (since its both fast and deals good damage)

-Armor: any particular armor with good mage bonus (wizard, runecraft)

-Amulet: Power or magic (power to add attack bonuses and it comes in handy when being hunted)

-Ring: Explorer (any one because of small mage and prayer bonus)

-Shield: none usually because of decreasing mage bonus

-Boots: any boots but caution if using fancy or fighting boots (decrease in magic attack)

-gloves: any gloves (gloves from Fist of Guthix reduce magic attack but not by much)

Strategy:

Your strategy as a melee/mager is based on mixing mage and melee to confuse people when using protection prayers and to keep runners in place with bind. At the start of the round as a hunter simply find your opponent and attack with the scimitar. If he starts rock hugging (running behind rocks or obstacles to keep u standing still) then praying protect from melee, shoot blast spells until he switches to mage then bind and continue attacking with melee. High level melee/mages can kill opponents before they hit 1,500 charges.

Method 2: Ranger/Mage

Required stats:

-50+ or 60+ range (more or less based on opponents armor and level)

-41+ mage (being able to shoot blast spells and bind is necessary)

Required equipment:

-Weapon: Maple shortbow (fast and efficient)

-Armor: D'hide chaps and vambs with a helmet and torso with good magic attack bonus

-Arrows: Mith or addy (if you can afford, addies are great for a fast kill)

-Amulet: Power (+6 mage and range bonus) or accuracy

-Ring: Explorer ring 1, 2, or 3

-Boots: any (fancy/fighting gives -1 range bonus and -3 mage bonus)

Strategy:

Ranger/mages are fast killers so like melee/mages, find your opponent and shoot him down. Bind when he starts goin for portal house or runs toward edge. Be sure to mage when they protect while staying in middle (I have found that range still hits often through prayer here if the defender is wearing not-so defensive armor). I don't range/mage much but it can kill before opponent hits 1,250 charges.

Method 3: Range/melee

Required stats:

65+ range

40+ attack

70+ str

35+ prayer

Required Equipment:

-Weapon: Maple shortbow and a strong rune weapon (battle axe, scimitar, or 2h)

-Arrows: Mith (or addy if you can afford)

-Armor: Full green d'hide with vambraces

-Amulet: Strength or Power

Strategy:

When hunting as a ranger/meleer, you need to know how to switch quickly to another weapon for a strong attack and switch back just after the attack is landed. When they run around, shoot them down with range and range boosting prayer. If they protect then switch to your rune weapon and quickly run within melee range. While they are standing still, range them with ultamite strength prayer on and quickly switch to rune weapon and give them a quick, strong hit then quickly switch back. Try ranging until they pray then attack with melee to confuse them.

Hunted:

Now for being the hunted I don't have multiple methods, but I do have a stategy that can get you a good amount of charges each time.

Stats needed:

-40+ defence

-43 prayer

(basically it because your equipment and prayer judge how often you get hit hard)

Inventory/Equipment:

-Full or medium helmet (addy or rune) and wizard hat or other magic defensive helmet

-Chainmail (addy or rune) and D'hide body or other magic defensive torso

-D'hide chaps and platelegs(optional if u can save the run energy)

-Power amulet or Blessed Holy Symbol (it gives a great prayer boost and small defenses)

-D'hide vambs, Saftey gloves, or other defensive gloves

-Fighting/Fancy boots

Strategy:

At the start of the match grab your stone and run halfway around the arena staying at an area where you get about 6-10 charges every time a small green thing comes to you. After you hit halfway go to the middle and wait for opponet. When he comes, run to the edge if he follows you all the way to edge use the teleport orb to go straight to center.

At this point the rest is based on how they are fighting

If plain meleer:

Rock hug (like stated before, run around rocks to keep him still and not attacking) and keep running around when he runs around to attack you. Put protect from melee when needed. When they switch weapons, put appropriate prayer and switch armor as needed

If plain ranger:

Stay in middle with protect from range and make sure you can see opponent. When he switches weapon quickly switch protection prayers and armor and rock hug if he uses melee

If plain mage:

Stay in middle with protect from mage (if they are low lvl and are using fire strike or lower, you may not have to pray). When they switch weapons to attack like stated before switch prayers and armor. You have more time to switchwhen they switch back to staff because of setting auto-cast.

Ok with this hunted method, you are gauranteed to get 1,300 charges or more(based on hp level and opponent's stats) each round and if using one of the hunting strategies, you will get tokens and rating easily. Hope this guide helped those f2p who need tokens badly.

Good luck out there

A few things:

A) Brush up on your grammer a bit.

B) Honestly, melee is useless in f2p unless your a very high level. Im level 102, 80 attack and 88 strength and i rarely hit on full rune.

C) Good guide, could use some work though.

who's gone run around in full rune?

for the rest, if your opponent's maging, run to the outside of a house, that way your opponent's stuck for a moment :P

Good guide, but I have a few suggestions based on what I've found when I play FOG:

1) Binding. In my experience, it's just a waste of time trying to bind someone. By the time you bind someone and run up to the hunted, you've probably already spent 2-3 seconds. I find it a waste of time trying to bind.

When you're using Melee/Mage, and the opponent's out of reach, instead of binding them when out of reach, just use the highest offensive spell you can.

2) D'hide vambs. If you're ranging/maging, you get -10 magic bonus when you're wearing them. While giving up some range bonus, your magic bonus is much higher. I wear no gloves/ decorative gloves when I am the hunter.

That's all I have to say. Other than those two points, the guide is really good.
