Kill_Life
A major hole was found in all supported version of Windows. That means anyone running 2000, XP, or Vista needs to run Windows Update and install the patch that was released today (KB958644). This patch was released outside the normal "Patch Tuesday" and is obviously seen as extremely important, so do install it. The vulnerability allows anyone to run anything they want on a machine that has network file sharing enabled. No username or password is needed to do so which means the machine in question is very easily compromised should the exploit be attempted. Anyone wanting to read the gritty details can hit the discussion on Slashdot and the Microsoft security bulletin.
