Can somebody help me figure out equipment stats?

Featured Replies

I'm a fairly new user (lvl 11), and I can't figure out how the stats you gain from different pieces of equipment work. Say I put on full Black armor and get +100 to all stats. [Extremely fake numbers, I know]

What happens with that +100?

Like, what do the numbers mean? Whether its +1 or +200. Is there some type of formula, or anything like that, or am I just over-thinking?

Thanks!

theres is a formula that only the makers of runescape know, essentially u want the number in ur equipement screen to be as high as possible, because when u fight those number will be calculated against those of the attacker. the damage u deal and recieve will be based on those numbers

And to add onto what lcchs said, higher equipment bonus helps you "avoid" the monsters attack. The higher your armour bonus, the lower the chance the enemy has to hit you. I'm pretty sure the max hit of the monster is not reduced.

1st fire cape May 14, 2009 finally =D.

2nd fire cape June 16, 2009 =P.

Higher number means higher chance to get 0s from monster/player's attack style (Not max-damage reduction).

So if you are fighting a giant, it is better to equip armors that offers highest crush-defense bonus.

The equipment bonus simply affects the ammount of times you get hit with 0 damage. If you have a high defence bonus, you will get hit less then with low defence bonus. The same is true for attack bonuses from weapons, except that it affects how often you hit 0 or a number. Armor does not affect a monsters max hit, just the frequency at which you get hit.

Also, if you have a high defence level, you will get hit less often as well; with a high attack, you will hit less 0's.

Ex- I have 70 defence and 72 attack, I am wearing full rune, or about 200 in defensive bonuses. I am up against somebody with full rune but only 40 defence and 40 attack. Since I have a higher defence level, he will hit many 0's on me. I, on the other hand, will hit him far more often.

^ They pretty much have it covered. The highest f2p armor (Full rune + gauntlets and berserker shield) has about +220 in stab slash crush and range while a minus bonus to mage. This means while slash stab crush and range attacks are almost ineffective (hits 0s frequently) mage attack's accuracy is increased!
