I don't know how many of you have heard of this, so I'll just explain it.

Imagine you had a business, lets say an auto garage in Syracuse, NY. Now, your auto garage is very successful, and it's onto the third generation of ownership. Everyone around knows where you are, and everyone around comes to your garage to get all their auto needs. You also just happen to be on one of the primest pieces of commercial property in the United States.

Now imagine you're Robert Congel. Imagine you had a child. But this is not a human child like us, no. Instead its a dream. A dream of the largest mall in the world. You just know that this is your true destiny in life. You know you need to achieve this dream. You will do anything for this dream to come true.

Now, lets go back to the auto garage. You can't forget that you're on one of the primest commercial plot of land in the United States. Where Interstate 81 intersects the NYS Thruway. You and 28 other business are sitting on the same place that multi-million dollar business tycoons are dying to get. Hence the Salina 29. Robert Congel is one of them.

Let's go back to Robert. You know the perfect place to build your "enclosed space". The absolute perfect space. That place happens to be in the Salina 29. But to relocate every business here, buy the land, and go through all the legal matters would cost you millions of dollars. And not to mention all the work it would take. So you decide to take the easy way out. You choose eminent domain. What is eminent domain? It is the process in which business can be forced off their land by the local, county, or national government, if their land is going to be used to help improve the economy. You decide to put a mask on your child, portraying it as "a place that will provide 1000's of jobs, and will also provide a state-of-the-art resarch facility. Enter OCIDA. Onondaga County Industrial Development Agency has the power to use eminent domain, and now they are on your side.

So you three generation family auto garage, along with 28 other business' are forced off their land so that can Robert Congel can build his billion dollar brainchild and start making millions. While he's getting away with robbery, you're stuck with nowhere to go and set up shop, no money you've recieved from your lot. What do you do?

Now, the auto garage that worked hard and fair to get that lot, get their money, and set up their business the fair way is left with nowhere to go. Meanwhile, Robert Congel is sitting back, and watching his greation being built right before his very eyes.

What do you think of OCIDA & DestiNY USA? My opinion is pretty obvious in this statement, i want to know yours.

Some capitalists got back at the state for this very stupid law, that pretty much gets rid of private property altogether. someone proved that they could develop a certain piece of land by putting a hotel on it, but it just happened to be the land that was owned by a supreme court justice who voted for this law  i thought that was pretty ironic.

Well thats BS. :|

Can we really find no other ways to improve our economy then kicking people off their land? If it's already a station of the economy that is producing then why take it away for "more" and declare it a roaring sucsess.
