Simple question, will it allow me to catch things 7 levels above my hunter level? or does it just give added oomph when hunting creatures you can already hunt.

I'm 90% sure the boost is invisible . . .

 

 

 

This means that your actual level won't be increased, you'll just do better at catching things. No higher-level traps, sorry.
