The best way to get junk is to just let it accumulate in your bank, but looking at maple log prices you get over 100 gp profit per maple long (u) you make if you buy the logs then fletch them. Quit. A good way to get junk is just to power-fletch at a one-click bank and keep the unstrung bows. A few thousand of them adds up, and they're incredibly fast.
