Just a quick technical query here.

 

I have seen many a screen shot in my time however it has always baffled me as to which buttons I should press.

 

 

 

If you could clue me up here I would be very grateful.

There's a button on a window keyboard saying "Print Screen/Sys Req" next to Scroll Lock and Pause/Break. After hitting it, you'll "copy" a screenshot of everything on your comp. Then go to any image program and paste it in.
