From what i've read you need to go do the little miniquest/game thing by killing the phoenix again. And if you're lucky you'll wind up somewhere else while trying to get out of the place and find an egg.

Doom is correct. You get a phoenix egg if you randomly get lost while exiting the phoenix's lair. There's about a 1 in 1,000 chance of it happening.
