venomai Posted July 22, 2005 Share Posted July 22, 2005 1. Define a light source. All the main highlights will be coming from this light source. 2. Start making the highlights/speculars. The 'specular' varies between materials, so make sure you've got it right. Here are some different armors, with different speculars. Metal: Leather: Cloth: [ fullsize images ] 3. Draw the brightest highlight, and then go from there, drawing darker and darker shades until you reach the base. Then do the same for shadows. If you want, use dithering to save colours, and try to avoid anything that looks like gradient-style or pillow-style shading.
