January 18, 200917 yr Every so often when I'm playing runescape, it'll just stop responding for about 10 secs and then I'll be back to the log in screen. Usually this happens within a couple minutes of logging in, but sometimes I'll have been playing for a while and it'll happen. Also, sometimes I'll be playing a game at pogo.com and the game will freeze, close, and this page will load (for the first time, though, this page loaded today). I know that I'm not simply disconnecting in any of these situations because I have irc open and it'll stay connected. I unchecked the boxes for both the wireless and networking controller that allowed them to turn off to conserve power. I've tried simply restarting my computer but these problems still arise. If I try to 'Diagnose and Repair' my network connection, no problems are found, but sometimes it gives me the option to reset the adapter (which I do) and that seems to help for a while. Edit: BTW, I'm using an HP laptop that's like 5 months old.
January 18, 200917 yr So obviously I assume you're on a wireless connection here. Does this problem happen on anything that is not java based? Is there, perhaps, just a non online java game you could test in your browser to see if you get the same results? And would this happen in a non java based online game?
January 18, 200917 yr Author No, I use an ethernet while I'm at my desk, but the little wireless switch I have is on. Could that possible 'confuse' the connection? And I don't know any non java based online games I could use to test, sorry. :?

(when I'm at my desk on my laptop the wireless is switched off for ethernet). Do you get this problem on any non online java games though? And it'd be great if you could test it on a non java online game, I'm trying to think of a small one you could possibly download to give it a test just to see if the same problem happens. I'm trying to figure out if it's a problem with the java or the internet connection.

I'll post again if this problem arises. Thanks for your help. :
