Training thieving from 56-60, are master farmers my best bet? Or what.

thats all i did, to save yourself itme if you got a spare 300k buy regen bracelet and get max pray bonus you cna put rapid restore on heals 4 hp eevry 30 seconds or so

I used the socresses garden mini game, the exp was fast enough for me. Or you could try the pyramid, but i've never tried that myself.

I'd say master farmers until 58 or so, then switch to Ardy knights, the xp is a bit faster and you dont fail much more than you do on farmers (at least by my experience). ;)
