Just a simple suggestion for an RSOF quickfind code BBCode.

 

 

 

Something like this:

I think this would be a simple addition that would make it a little easier to navigate through the forums. Also, you could restrict the use of links with RSOF links, to cut back on scamming. Just tell them to use the BBCode ;)

Let me get this clear: so you're suggesting that we implement the above BBCode which would take in a quick find code and turn it into a link to the thread in question?

What's the point? A code that verified that all RSOF links simply linked to the display name would be much easier to write, and would let you know for certain that it was a RSOF link (Presumably to gear up in flame shields and rubber gloves).

Well I can understand how it would make the process more efficient. I know that if you don't already have the forum window up, it can be a pain to navigate to it. But maybe that's just for us lazy people :P (us referring to me).

 

 

 

But on the other hand, I do think that our current system works just fine. People are usually very cautious about clicking links, and for a very good reason. I don't want people to feel too secure about clicking links, if that makes sense. They could end up making a bad mistake. Like compfreak said, by just using the quick find code, people know for certain where they're going because they're forced to open the page and input the code themselves. If we implemented this, I have a feeling that the forum scam links would return :(

Actually, I think he's referring to what your talking about - the current situation where a link's actual target can differ from the 'displayed' link - instead of [Please Use QuickFind Code].com, which might display, the link's target is actually, say, a scam site named forum.runescpae.com. His idea would be to force people to use find codes by making it so that tip.it would automatically create a link based on the QFC in the 'QFC code' tags. A decent idea, but I think mine would be more workable and safer in the long run - I could make a URL that displays just like the suggested QFC tag code, but secretly links to the scam site. IMHO, it would be solved by forcing links to have the same text as the target, but it could be solved even more easily by having people look before making the jump :P

 

 

 

Then again, I just hide all of my forum tags in not-yet-banned URL redirection sites, I don't like making people work. It's frowned upon, and such sites are usually banned upon discovery, but there's not enough rules on tip.it to cover everything like this.
