We need a signature guide

Featured Replies

We need a guide that tells how (new people) to put a signature in their post. It shoulden't be that hard. Also add Kb limits and restrictions for signature/avatar.

Im not 100% where it would go but i hate signatures like mine (for only this post)[hide=spoiler]Quote me[/hide]

Pureprayer, you're awesome.

I'm not exactly sure why this is needed, I think it's fairly self explanatory.

I see several new people to Tif, with signatures like that (this would include kb limits and restrictions as I see many new posters with 100 Kb+ avatars).

We have a guide about dimensions etc to make sure your signature is within the signature guidelines, but a guide telling people what button to click to put in their signature i don't think is neeed.

Just tell them to put the signature in the user control panel and about dimensions/KB limits for both the signature and avatar.

I don't think we need a whole guide about how to edit your signature and avatar. We already do have a few general guides about signatures scattered throughout the forums:

  • [*:qqm3a9al]
Tip.it Forum Guide - Important Posting FAQs - Section on signatures and includes a link to the Signature Guide.

[*:qqm3a9al] How-To Guide: Taking Screenshots and Posting Images - Explains how to post images - can be applied to putting images in signatures.

[*:qqm3a9al] Tip.it Forum Rules - Section 2.4 mentions the signature and avatar limits for both dimensions, file size and content.

What else do we need? I guess could add a small sentence or two to the Tip.it Forum Guide - Important Posting FAQs about how to edit your signature.

Yeah now that I think about it there is really no need...

but could someone sort this out?

Maximum dimensions; width: 100 pixels, height: 100 pixels, file size: 8.00 KiB.

Its on the edit avatar page. A KiB is equal to about 1 KB (1024 bytes) and should be 20 KB if I am correct.
