DeeKay
Ah. Had just this problem. It's the bound-to-fail Windows and Nvidia combination on low-end cards and laptop chips. This is what happens: http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/di ... meout.mspx The excuse here is that the card is stuck doing 'intensive' operations (rendering the Runescape poly-and-a-half complex models). What you can try is to set the TdrDelay registery value that's mentioned there to 8. I did it, and what I got is that the card hangs for 8 seconds, instead of 2, then the screen goes blank. In any case, if you ask me the culprit is crappy drivers, although I bet Nvidia's medium and high-end (100$+ and 300$+ respectively) range of cards don't suffer from it. What I did is ditch Vista and downgrade to good old Windows XP, although the Windows 7 Beta doesn't seem to suffer from it either. These are pretty much your only options. You can try and tweak the registry even more, maybe even turning the TDR off, but I doubt that'll help.
