In order to fight the King Rat during the Quest it is possible to use an owergrown (hell)cat to face the rodent. The overgrown cat has a lot more hitpoints than a regular cat and especially a kitten.

 

This comes in handy if you bought a new kitten to do the quest.

 

Using the overgrown cat makes the fight safer and saves food, as there is less need to heal. Also helpful if your kitten/cat died fighting the rat (r.i.p. my black kitten)
