First ever Terra Sig!

The surface. It's not too terribly bad. I'm not sure what your trying to get across in this landscape here, but it seems like you basicly tried to make a pile of mud in the water. Some tips with the surface:

-Grass. 9 times out of 10 you will have some grass in your landscape. It's simply the most basic type of surface you can do, and in turn, the easiest I think. For grass, first make sure that on the slope max/min constraints, you make sure the slope max is checked. Grass can not grow on too big of slopes, so adjust it a bit so that grass doesn't grow on nearly vertical areas on the surface, that would be bad.

Also, I like to have low fractual noise for grass. It just makes it look so much more...real. It's great.

-If you haven't yet, read the surface map tutorial explaining parrent/child layers on the terragen home page. Also, instead of me explaining it all here, go to my tutorial under my sig.

Now some other tips:

- http://www.worldmachine.com use it. It is so much better than terragens ehm, bad terrain editor.

- Land rarly enters water at a steep angle, and almost always meets the water at a very very small angle, for example, a beach.

- The atmosphere isn't bad for a start. As you get better experiment with more and more of the controls, figure out what each of them do, and how they effect each other.

Also, use the sharpen tool in photoshop/whatever program on terrains after you open them from terragen. Terragen likes to make terrains blurry

Quoted by me from another post. Most of this applys to you as well.
