Today a student was listening to his iPod during class. The teacher said "Pull that thing out and pay attention". (Should I have put the period on the inside of the quotes as well?) Without missing a beat, another student said "That's what she said". Mind you, everybody was pretty serious/quiet when this happened. There was at least a one second delay, then pretty much the whole class started laughing, including the teacher. It really wasn't that funny, but the timing was just perfect.

Periods and commas always go inside quotation marks. Question marks and exclamation points go wherever they are needed. I.e.: Did he say "Go get that"? vs. "Would you go get that?" he asked.

I know a vegetarian that has a pet snake. It eats mice. I'm not sure what the thought process there is

There's a second side to it, others believe the slaughter of animals is inhumane and "wish not to take part in the holocaust of cows and pigs."- A vegetarian I know.

I have never met a vegetarian who thought that. Ever.

I'm with Seany on this one. Vegetarians up here choose to be not for the health benefits, but more because of the ethical treatment of animals.
