Tried to actually create a new style o.O Got the idea during a thirteen-hour car trip... anyways, all I really did was make a slightly transparent, glass-ish border, then brushed once on top and attempted to make it 'pop'. It's kind of supposed to look like someone just painted over a piece of glass, I guess.

Dont like this, just doesnt look appealing IMO.

I like the center, but not the border. That glass-like border as you said puts me off the piece. Though i really do like the blob idea ;)

I like it, minus the border of the image. It looks like a cross between a hydrogen cloud, a sliced geode, and bacteria.
