System Error - Damaged Disk Drivers

Featured Replies

I have a habit of doing improper shutdowns whenever the computer freezes up. One day, it was in the process of restarting and I turned it off again because it took too long to restart. When it came back on, it went into a disk repair mode, which I grew impatient with and foolishly canceled. Periodically, the computer will now freeze and will go to a blue screen (envelops entire screen) and says that Windows has been shutdown after an error occurred and says something like "KERNEL_INPAGE_ERROR". There are no longer any options for me to repair the disk drivers, which I feel is the problem. I tried System Restore and it always ends with it not being able to be completed successfully. I don't know what to do.

My OS is Windows Vista.

To check the drive for errors;

right click on the c:\ drive

select "properties"

under the tools tab you will find "error checking"

click "check now"

select all options then start

now it should ask to check at next restart

restart

Now it also flashes a message: "Internal hard disk drive not found. To resolve this issue try reseat the drive. No bootable devices-strike f1 to retry reboot f2 for set up f5 for onboard disgnostics".

EDIT:

Went through customer support with my computer's manufacturer. I reseated the hard drive and ran some scans through onboard diagnostics, as well as scanning my C:\\ drive for errors. No errors were found during my session with customer support, but I did receive an error code after running diagnostics immediately after receiving another blue screen and "hard drive not detected" message. (Error code 2000-0141)

I'm not sure how this is going to be fixed, but hopefully the long error code that I copied off of the blue screen will help. It's comprised of a long string of 0's and x's.
