tpdx
Hey guys! I'm new here. I have an account called Dr Choppuh. On this account, I chop. Chop the woods. The willow woods by Draynor. At my rate, I seem to chop a few hundred a day. I get on from time to time to chop the chop with my fellow choppers. Currently, I am 53 woodcutting. How long do you think it would take me to get to 60 to cut Yews? Should I cut the yews when I get to 60? Or stick with the willows? How long do you think it would take me to get 99 through willows? If I play an hour or two a day? Through Yews? Thanks for your responses guys! I'll be chopping the chops.
Troacctid
I imagine you could average 45k xp/hr if you went for 99 on willows. So just short of 300 hours, roughly. If you're playing that long it probably would be worth getting membership to shave off about a third of that time...getting 99 in f2p is usually not worth it, especially in a skill like woodcutting where you don't get any rewards for it. Yews aren't really terrific profit even for free players, especially at low levels. I don't think it would be worth it to chop them. tpdx
Hm.. 45k per hour with banking? I'm not exactly paying attention 100%, just listening to myself chop whilst doing other things. So I'll round down, maybe 35-40k. I want the challenge of obtaining the skill whilst in F2P, and I don't wish to pay $5 a month to chop wood. And how would I make money any other way other than Yews? I'm a level 3 with no skills but woodcutting. I like to chop!

For example, buying and selling at median, you could make about 100k gp/hr by buying anchovies and plain pizza and using them together. By the way, I've been testing oaks and it seems there's a level where they max out in speed with a log about every 4 swings of the hatchet. I don't know where that level is because I didn't notice it until I was 99 already, but when you hit it, it's possible that oaks will be better than willows for some period of time. I think, based on a similar phenomenon in mining, that it would be as soon as you start using a rune hatchet, but I don't know. Just thought I'd throw that out there. tpdx
Oaks being better exp than willows? I'm 53, nearing 54 woodcutting. Am I passed this time frame?
Troacctid
Oaks being better exp than willows? I'm 53, nearing 54 woodcutting. Am I passed this time frame? Like I said, no idea. I wanted to test it, but I'm too high-level. So I made a new character to try it out at lower levels, but now my internet has gone spotty and I can't rely on staying logged in long enough for any data. You'll have to try it for yourself. tpdx
But then I'll have to leave my precious willow chopping sticks! :o Obviously, oaks would be better than willows for profit, since willows don't sell and oaks do, for twice the price of a willow I might add. And I think normal logs sell for about the same as oaks. Hm... I was just playing with the calculators, and I'll need about 190k more willows for 99, or 2k more willows to 60 and 72k yews to 99, which would give me a pure profit of 36 million lovely coins. Just got 54 choppings and 2k willows in the handy bank as we speak.
