spooferfish
48,728 steel bars * 912 gp (mid ge price) = 43,892,736 = 43m Or using highest plate you can..uhh bah ill do the math, hold on. (i'd assume that would be fastest, or maybe arrow tips) 58 - 75 on steel plates = 28,044 steel bars * 912 = 25,576,128 75- 80 addy heads = 12,411 * 2,688 = 33,360,768 58,936,896 = 58m, but faster? I think you can make money off addy arrow heads too..not sure though. Not sure if that really is the fastest, or cheapest way, but there ya go. Lord Diddy
First of all use stealing creation hammers, if you had to use it for any skill, smithing would be at the top of the list and is highly recommended. Even at level 3 combat you could get into a non combat clan and play without dieing every few seconds. This essentially cuts the costs in half and are able to save 500k+ hr playing. I do know for a fact that 70-80 doing mithril items all the way cost around 8-10m with hammers, and alching the products. *For spooferfish's calculations don't forget you will have the products from which you deduct from the materials. So the price is significantly less.
bickers
if you don't mind a slowish speed smelt gold ores with goldsmith gaunts 54-80 would cost you 10.3m if you buy the ores and sold the bars as each ore is 317 loss atm and you would need to smelt 32,514 ores
