August 24, 200916 yr Recently came into possesion of one of these from a friend who no longer used it, I plugged it in and it worked fine with my Windows XP pc. It's no longer detected and when I plug it in the blue light flashes and immediatly turns off, what's the deal? PS: Whenever it used to work there'd always be a power surge on the ports and I'd have to reset them. This message longer comes up now and nothing at all happens when I plug it in. Any ideas? Thanks. If any of your relatives or friends have the same sort of cables, you could try theirs instead with your HD and see if it works (so you don't blow 10-20 on cables). Otherwise i suppose send it to repair - depending on what it would cost. Hopefully someone else can jump in with an answer as well.
