system idle process using too much CPU

Featured Replies

Hi

Here is my problem : When i go to the process tab in the "ctrl-alt-del" window ( dont remember its name ), my System idle process take around 95% of my CPU, this is causing great lag in other programs.

Obviously, i've googled my problem, and the only thing i got was that was normal, the more the system idle process take, the better. I've experienced that problem with another computer and I must say that it's NOT normal to have that much lag while the idle process takes 90% of the cpu, an d then everything is running smooth when its at 20% or lower.

Any ideas ?

I cannot explain your problem, but I'd like to say that the System Idle Process is simply 100% minus the percentage used by all other processes in total. It does nothing else and it should not be related to your problem at all.

It can be because of spyware...

I will help you get rid of it..

here is what you need to do first:

http://www.merijn.org/files/hijackthis.zip

Download that.

Unzip it, and run the program.

Run the program and do:

Do a system file, and safe a logfile.

In the same folder as you unpacked the Hijackthis you will get a log.

Post the contains of the log here... and i will try and fix it for you.
