idunedain
This topic should be kept for reference, it needs to be confirmed by other users. 1 - The Longrange attack tends to hit better from a longer range. 5 squares for short bows. (tested with a short bow) 2 - Short Bows hit more on shorter ranges then long bows I was training all day from lvl 29-40 and I discovered that short bows work better over shorter distances and long bows after farther distances. Also if you set your attack style to long range, it seems that it hurts more at long range (about 5 squares or so) I am not sure if what you say is true or it just happened to hit differently... In my oppinion, the difference between the short and the long bow is the speed and the range at which you can shoot. And using longrange mode you increase this range. However, I might be wrong. Before updating the guide according to your info, we will need confirmation from other community members or Jagex... 103 combat | 1M+ xp in each skill (lvl73) | 1800+ skill total | quest capeLevel 86 herblore, 85 farming
idunedain
I prefer to keep this post for reference, as many users have questions regarding the formula below. The range max damage table available in the Ranged guide was calculated using the formulas described in one of the first posts to this topic: Here are the formulas: Bronze: (lvl + 6) / 9 Iron: (lvl + 7) / 9 Steel: (lvl + 7) / 8 Mith: (lvl + 6.5) / 7.5 Adam: (lvl + 10) / 7 Rune: (lvl + 13) / 6 Always rounded up. (i.e. 2.001 -> 3) As many users have noticed, it seems that these formulas are not 100% accurate and feedback concerning the "errors" has been received. I have analysed this feedback and I have discovered that almost all of it could be explain with just one small change to the formulas... This change is quite simple: +1 to all the formulas above and always round down. Thus, the new formulas are: Bronze: 1+ (lvl + 6) / 9 Iron: 1+ (lvl + 7) / 9 Steel: 1+ (lvl + 7) / 8 Mith: 1+ (lvl + 6.5) / 7.5 Adam: 1+ (lvl + 10) / 7 Rune: 1+ (lvl + 13) / 6 Always rounded down (i.e. 2.001 -> 2) The +1 is easily explained by the fact that even the lowest level should have a default max hit of 1 (not 0). And the rounding down is the default behaviour in programming (you take the integer part). Rest assured, the changes to the damage table are minimal. Actually, the old formulas can still be considered correct and the rounding up is ALWAYS done (even 2.0 -> 3, not only 2.1 -> 3). As I said, almost all the submitted corrections were in fact on the situation 2.0 -> 3.... To conclude, the damage table has been corrected and it will be visible with the next guide update. Credit has been given to everyone who has submitted the corrections allowing me to correct the formulas. I will keep this post here, even after the update, for future reference. 103 combat | 1M+ xp in each skill (lvl73) | 1800+ skill total | quest capeLevel 86 herblore, 85 farming
