October 17, 200916 yr Well, there isn't much to say in this area. Not only is Firemaking not much of a beneficial skill, but it gives no REAL advantage over lower levels (except for a few quest requirements here and there, and perhaps the utterly pointless hand cannon). Well, my suggestion might not change this completely, but I believe it will make a change. As most of you know, the type of logs you burn determines the amount of time your fire lasts. I'm not sure about the time ranges of the different logs, but either way- Willows are more than enough to cook a full inventory of any raw food, which makes other logs nothing more than an expensive alternative for Cooking. Well, how about if the logs affected your food-burning rates? It makes perfect sense as better wood should have an effect on your Cooking, and it would actualy give an advantage to higher logs over lower ones. It's very similar to the range in Lumbridge (for those of you who don't know, it has better Cooking rates, I.E. you burn less often cooking on it), or the Family Crest Cooking gauntlets. If to give a more detailed suggestion, I think:* Normal logs (and Achey) should not affect your Cooking at all (just like all the current logs' abilities).* Oak logs should only have a slight affect. Perhaps adding 1 or 2 invisible Cooking levels.* Willow logs should also have just a littel advantage, perhaps giving 2-3 invisible Cooking levels.* Teak logs should have a 3-4 Cooking levels advantage.* Arctic Pines should have a 4-5...* Maple logs- 5-6.* Mahogany logs- 6-7.* Eucalyptus logs- 7-8.* Yew logs- 8-9.* Magic logs- 9-10. Possibly using those and Family Crest gloves should get you rid of burning Manta rays and Sea Turtles at 99 Cooking :). Support list  :1. Sonic3190 Your thoughts and comments :):
October 17, 200916 yr A good idea, but I think the 9/10 boost is far to high for 75 Firemaking. #KERR2016/17/18/19/20/21. #rpgformod
October 17, 200916 yr Author A good idea, but I think the 9/10 boost is far to high for 75 Firemaking. It really isn't as high as you think. Sure, players could stop burning swordfish at level 76 and sharks at 84 (with Cooking gauntlets), but is it that big of an advantage? Cooking is quite the fast skill anyway, and considering this advantage will mostly be used as a better training method, it wouldn't matter that much. These levels would be gained in a few days anyway if you're serious at training the skill. And it also costs a lot more than willows or maples (if you need 1-2K logs for 99 Cooking, and magic logs cost about 1.4K each (as opposed to 8gp for willows and 30-ish for maples), it should cost you 1.4-2.8M, not that the price is big, but is it worth it for only 10 levels of advantage? Probably only on the high-end foods which still burn at 99 Cooking, absurd in my opinion.) The only problem I could possibly see is price changes to Manta Rays and Sea Turtles. Both foods still burn at 99 Cooking, which is why their cooked versions cost more than their raw counterparts. This would very possibly change if such an idea was implemented into the game.
