Ok guys here's the story I quit about a year ago largely due to the update since the only reason I played was pking and dueling. I had a lot of complaints about the only original part of the game being taken away and the lovely big brother approach to limiting trade.

 

But anyway..no use arguing I got kind of intrigued by the new market as I read on it lately and I realize there i still a pking system although it's severely gimped you can in fact use it and get good items from kills.

 

I have two accounts one is level 100 all round char which I have little interest in, but the other one was originally going to be my mage pker.

 

The thing is I'm a bit of a perfectionist by nature so once my friend got his defense to 24 and prayer to 23 I was let's just say very disappointed for my pure getting 'tainted.'

 

What I like about this char is his name is 'ice age' with 5 spaces in between which I'm not sure if you can do anymore and I just think it's an awesome nick. He was originally going for ancients magic pure with 99 ranged for hp.

 

Now here is my question with the change in pking can I make an awesome pker out of him or is the defence/prayer going to limit his abilities?

 

Here are the stats:

 

LVL 52

 

Magic 66, ranged 50, attack 48, strength 40, HP 49.

 

Haven't finished ancients but I can pretty easily.

 

So what do you guys say? I'd be a bit weary of starting a brand new char considering I probably put in like 50 hours into this one but you get my dilemma.

if you want to be a pure, dont get defence. Prayer is going to be 31(low cmb), 52 (big cmb)

You're going to level prayer anyways, if you're doing DT.

You will need a lot of practice in Range + ancients (burst + karil bow - ownage :)

Thanks for the advice. So should I start over or keep leveling? I'm about halfway done DT (and of course the very lengthy pre-requisits) but I don't want defence making me weaker against people with 1 def and a few extra mage/range/str etc levels.

you may like the name, but yes, your pure is officially tainted. tainted pures will be regarded as pariahs.

 

plus the stats you have arent that great anyways. so start a new account and be sure to put "pure", "ice", "str" or "ranqe" in the name.

I don't see how your pure is tainted...-.- if your going for mage range, don't train attack and strength anymore. Just mage, range and defence. (prayer is a must).

There are range tanks (people who only have range/defence) so why not a mage/range tank?

 

You could hybrid between mage and range. And your getting ancients anyway so here are the suggested stats before you pk.

 

Magic: 85+

Range: 80+

defence: 70+

hp: 70+

attack and strength: under 60

prayer: 60+ (whatever you think is best).

 

If I had stats like that I would most likely have this gear:

Ahrims hood

Karils leather top

Black dragon hide chaps/karils leather skirt/ahrims robe bottom

Infinity boots

Amulet of glory/fury/range amulet (range amulet if wearing a robe bottom) (glory or fury if wearing a leatherskirt or chaps)

barrows gloves/regen bracelet/anything with decent defence or mage/range attack bonus.

fire cape/god cape (mage arena)

Dragonfire shield/Mind shield/God book/

Rune c'bow/bone c'bow (any strong bolts (e))

Ancients staff/Master wand/mystic staff of any type.

 

Thats what I would use.

 

You might want to think about your own stats before even making a pker. If you cannot tell when you have ruined a pure/pk'ing account don't bother pking because you won't possibly do well compared to most people.

 

And never ask on a forum like this, half the people won't have the slightest clue of what the hell your talking about or are just very mainstream and only know of common builds.
