Okay, so what is the best way to deal with them?

 

I currently guthan them between kills (solo maging) and pray range/mage when my health falls below 60.

 

Is there any other ways to stop them from just hacking at your hp during kills or do you just have to deal with them?

You basically just tank them, no point in killing them because they just spawn back anyway. That doesn't mean you should stop guthaning them though ;)
