Virus on boot sector of disk c- does anyone know how format?

Does anyone know how to format a windows me pc because I have a virus on the boot sector of drive c on it :x it is really, really bugging me as my computer restarts like, every 5 minutes and most of the time I can't even get on runescape!!!!!!

Im not sure, but if you have a virus infecting your boot sector, i dont think its possible to remove. The boot sector is read only, i think, so there isnt anyway to get rid of it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If that is the case, you may have to buy a new hard drive.

no we are not going to format your drive unless you have other viruses (not going into that just telling oyu how to fix the boot sector virus here)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ok is your computer hard drive a fat32 or a ntfs drive?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

if its fat 32 find a friend that has a CLEAN comptuer... make a boot disk

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

that bood disk put the format program on (format.com if i remember)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

move the write protect tab on the disk so your computer can't write to it

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

reboot your computer and boot with the disk you made

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

you should be in DOS...

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

now type format c: /mbr

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

this will erase your boot record and rewrite it with the disks and allow it to have a clean one..

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

reboot and your done
