Chain mail with plate/coat of arms

Featured Replies

Okay, ive got two ideas to throw out for you guys:

Back in the day (middle ages) Knighst would be dressed in an undercovering of chain mail, and have a breast plate over that. I'm thinking it would be cool if jagex allowed players to wear chain mail under their pl8t. It could give you a chance to raise your defence even a little higher.

My second idea is sort of related:

Not only did Knights wear both chain mail and pl8t; but they also used to have surcoats or tunics that they would wear over their armer. On them would be the knights coat of arms. His coat of arms would also be displayed on his shield. I think it would be cool if in runescape you could go to a herald (person who makes the coat of arms) and you could design a coat of arms for your character. Which could then be maped to your shield and armor. I think this would be a cool way to further personalize your character.

just some ideas, tell me what you think.

cool i think same thing fer legs with the chain thing

sounds neat, but think about how much space that would take up just for a little graphic... for everyone... to make the coat of arms different for each character... seems a little excessive to me

Plate mail by definition already has a chainmail underlayer to cover joints where you can't have any solid metal plates. An elementary knowledge of armour would have allowed you to know that.

Your shield bears your arms, that is, the main design of your coat of arms. The entire coat of arms is never applied to any battlefield equipment, because it simply is far too large and complex for easy recognition. For more on heraldry, see this.

ok, thx for the feedback guys. Let me just clarify a couple of things i didn't get completely clear. Um, srry about the coat of arms thing I guess I got my difinitions a little mixed up when I said coat of arms I meant the more simple less complicated versions applied to the sheilds.

About the graphix: you wouldn't design the it completely by urself. U would have the option of certain shapes and colors at your choice. Also simple animals could be aplied like eagles, lions, dragons, ext. If the heraldry is kept to simple shapes colors and minor animal graphix I more than believe that runescape can handle it. Look at god armors and how they have a sort of little simble on the pl8t and how kites have a simple cross shape on them. That is the kind of low pixel graphics im talking about only you can change them up a little bit.

and thank you for clearing the armor thing up but im still sure that knights did where a seperate layer of chain under the pl8t that has chain pieces.
