You don't need to clear rooms to count towards your bonus multiplier. In fact, you don't even need to go in them. Just open the door so you can see inside and it will count.

I don't even understand the Bonus rooms mechanic. What counts as normal rooms and what counts as Bonus rooms? Are rooms that require a key bonus rooms? Are Bonus rooms special rooms that aren't marked on the minimap?? Totally confused because sometimes, when I've gone through pretty much every room (or so I think) I don't get any Bonus rooms multiplier. :?

From what I understand, bonus rooms are rooms you don't have to enter.

Bonus rooms are the ones that require a certain skill to open e.g. a room with boarded blanks that requires a 102 WC requirement to chop the wood or a door you have to dispel with a certain RC requirement etc.
