Magic against Kalphites?

My Slayer task is Kalphites, which I usually melee quite quickly. I've used a dwarf cannon in the past too. But I've never maged them and I just realised I haven't maged anything for quite a while, so I'd like to have a go. Any suggestions for maging Kalphites? What spell/s, what armour?

There's plenty of safespots either in the cactus room or the 2 guardians near the hole. So defense should not be an issue so go for the highest mage attack in regards to armer. for armer, a couple items I highly suggest are staff of light and hexcrest. Not sure of the kalphite's mage defense theough so try maging a few and see how you do.

 

Also, note that wearing a piece of sacred clay mage armer gives you double mage exp. The tradeoff is you sacrafice mage accuracy, which may or may not turn you off. I suggest clay hats if you choose to do this, but that would sacrifice your hexcrest. So maybe top or bottom.
