AndyPandy
I'm looking for a cheapish HD camcorder to take with me when I'm out and about riding. I'm not sure what to get, but I know that I want a few things: -HD recording at at least 30 FPS-Under £250-Ability to attach a cheap wide angle fisheye lens, something like this. I've had a look around, and found a few that are a good price, full HD and such, but I have no idea from the information given about them if/how I could attach a fisheye. Anyone got any reccommendations? So don't let anyone tell you you're not worth the earth, These streets are your streets, this turf is your turf, Don't let anyone tell you that you've got to give in, Cos you can make a difference, you can change everything, Just let your dreams be your pilot, your imagination your fuel, Tear up the book and write your own damn rules, Use all that heart, hope and soul that you've got, And the love and the rage that you feel in your gut, And realise that the other world that you're always looking for, Lies right here in front of us, just outside this door, And it's up to you to go out there and paint the canvas, After all, you were put on the earth to do this, So shine your light so bright that all can see, Take pride in being whoever the [bleep] you want to be. IXxPURITYxXI
I don't know much about HD camcorders, being a photographer myself, but if you have slightly more than 250, I'd think about Canon's Rebel EOS T2I. It's a digital SLR camera, that has full auto-focus HD video capabilities, as well as professional quality photo capture. Being an SLR, the lenses are completely interchangeable with the press of a button, and this allows you to take advantage of Canon's wide lens selection, ranging from shallow depth of field lenses for close-ups to telephoto lenses, and of course, everything in between, such as fisheyes. It will run you around 300-325 for the Rebel, but I'd highly recommend it. || ex-LGZ High Council || ex-T0 Member || ex-LND Member|| ^ click ^ Proud Divine Knights Clan MW2 Member. I'm not sure about a DSLR, I just dont need to spend that much. I'll check around for you, and I'll see what I can find. :) || ex-LGZ High Council || ex-T0 Member || ex-LND Member|| ^ click ^ Proud Divine Knights Clan MW2 Member. Hobgoblinpie
The T2i (or 550D as known in the UK) does have autofocus, but it is not 'full autofocus', in the sense that it relies on a slow Contrast Detection Algorithm to determine focus. It does however feature Full HD at 30fps (1920x1080). I'm not sure about what exactly you're trying to achieve here. I mean, you want to spend quite a bit of money on a decent camcorder, yet you want to basically destroy its quality by putting a cheap-o lens on it. You're going to notice how bad it is when filming in HD. POH Agility Course, Please Support!
IXxPURITYxXI
I was looking around, and honestly, I can safely say that you won't be able to get a decent HD camcorder for that price (at least from what I can see). With an HD camcorder, you'll need a good lens too, which will run you in itself an excess of 100, otherwise, HD is redundant as you're limited by the lens' capabilities. I found a Sony HDR-CX105E, which can be bought for 339 on Amazon, but that's the best I could find without resorting to completely crud quality. However, you'll find that most camcorders under ~600-700 do not allow for adapters (ex. 25mm adapter, which is what you're looking for, so that your lens will fit on the 'corder). I personally would either go with a good SD camcorder at that price, or be willing to shell out a bit more for a true HD one. || ex-LGZ High Council || ex-T0 Member || ex-LND Member|| ^ click ^ Proud Divine Knights Clan MW2 Member. AndyPandy
Ok, so with a random, cheap lens, I won't great quality. How bad would the quality loss be? IXxPURITYxXI
Ok, so with a random, cheap lens, I won't great quality. How bad would the quality loss be? If the lens is less than 100, especially for a fisheye, I can guarantee that they aren't high quality machined optics. My dad is a wedding photographer, and his fisheye ran him ~$700 (albeit a professional quality one). I'd assume a decent one to be roughly 100ish. Fisheyes are a strange contraption, IMO, and it takes a LOT of precision to properly curve the multitude of lenses to make a distorted-yet-undistorted look that's associated with fisheyes. If it's off by even a fraction-of-a-fraction of an inch, the image will be distorted (in a bad way), especially along the edges. The quality of the glass will probably render the image looking like sub-par SD. In lenses, quality is everything, even more so than in the camcorder itself, and you can't shave off budget when shopping for one. || ex-LGZ High Council || ex-T0 Member || ex-LND Member|| ^ click ^ Proud Divine Knights Clan MW2 Member.
