Well, was playing with a camera late night, last night, and I found this old, cheap hat, which I happened to have.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Experimented a bit with it, and took this picture..

 

 

 

Edited a bit, made the background grey, except for the blanket, which stood out, which has a nice effect.

 

 

 

Left the colour of the blanket and hat intact.

 

 

 

Also blurred the background, to expand the focus on the hat.

 

 

 

Added the stripes, text, et voila..

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Not digging that bright red line. Maybe go for a more subtile color to go with the other stripes? It's truly a wicked picture otherwise. :)

Tried another colour, but I liked the red best, other colours would make it a bit too 'boring', for the lack of another word.

All the reds, including those in the background, are distracting and seem to draw the eye far away from the actual subject in the photo.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Try to avoid gaussian blurs on the background if you are trying to imitate a camera out-of-focus effect.
