I just checked the magic skill guide and stumbled upon the alchemy section.

I really think the tips in the section are out-of-date or just wrong. Like stating that you'd best make all your own items.

I can't help on correcting any further, off for holiday now, just wanted to point you on it.

Buying items to alch nearly always makes a lose, thou some make borderline profits.

Making items yourself from scratch means pure profit.

I think what the OP means is that doing that is not efficient, because you could make more money in the time you spent making the products.

 

However, while it's inefficient, it is still a valid tip for player wishing to DIY or train multiple skills, or for players who simply enjoy the satisfaction of completing everything themselves.

Ah I suppose it could be re-worded slightly to make it clear it is a tip for maximising profits of alching.
