Jagex Copyright?

Recommended Posts

On the bottom of Tip.It forums it says "RuneScape ® is a trademark of Jagex © 2000-2010 Andrew Gower.", yet Runescape (Jagex) at the bottom of their webpage says "This website and its contents are copyright © 1999 - 2010 Jagex Ltd"

Did Tip.It get it's copyright years wrong, or is there some story behind this?

"DeviousMUD, the forerunner to RuneScape, was created in 1998 by Andrew Gower. The game, which was never publicly released, used isometric graphics. In 1999, Gower completely rewrote the game, albeit with no improvements to the graphics or several other aspects of the game. This version was released as a public beta version for approximately one week before it was withdrawn."

"The game, renamed RuneScape, was released to the general public as a beta version and for testing on 4 January 2001 and was originally operated from their parents' house in Nottingham."

Since this slightly confusing matter has been answered, I'll lock up the topic. If you feel it shouldn't be locked, please don't hesitate to PM myself of any other Crew Member.
