I plan on attempting DKs soon. I was going to hybrid with my friend as the mage and I was wondering if I should bring my balmung or is it not worth it at my level?

you don't melee when you mage, unless you're tribriding - in which case you'll want a whip/rapier.

no i meant that I was the hybrid range/ melee and my friend was going to mage.

Doesn't really matter.

 

Maxed players rely on speed and lower levels should rely on power/stats (from the weapon).

 

 

You can use both, but experience will tell you what's best. Try out balmung first, then whip second and see which one you prefer!
