I need around 50 rc for exploers ring 4 and as i was making earth runes, i am noticing that the 10% extra rune thing is (i think) broken!

It no longer gives bonus xp, the last 7 times ive used it gives me normal xp

It no long says "the explorer ring sparks to life and creates more runes for you" message in the message box

 

But the runes i recieve still fluctuate between 55-62 which could be because of the rc extra rune thing

 

I dont want to go through pages of patch notes so if someone could plz shed some light on this?

It should be working. Trying messing with your chat settings. Like turning off game chat filter. I don't think it was ever supposed to or did give extra XP, it was always just only runes.

im 9001% sure that it gave you more xp, i distinctly remember it giving me anywhere between 135-155 xp when doing air runes.

And the filter was set to All when i did it,

I never heard anything about the ring giving extra exp O.O

It was glitched when they released the Explorer's Ring (4). It was supposed to be fixed in the last update though.

No. You only get XP per each essence. The "bonus runes" you get from having a higher runecrafting level and/or the explorer's ring effect do not give bonus XP. At least that's what I believe is correct, could be wrong though. I will go check.

Remember that, although you are getting multiple runes per essence, you will only get Runecrafting experience for each essence you convert into runes. For example, if you are level 33 Runecrafting and you craft four air runes per essence, you only get experience for the one rune essence, not for making four air runes.

 

Explorer's ring 2 When worn:

Replenish 50% of your run energy twice per day

30 free Low-level Alchemy castings per day (requires Magic level 21)

10% chance of crafting an extra air, earth, fire or water rune for each essence you use.

 

Also:

Experience lamp - 1,000 experience in the skill of your choice over level 30

 

More runes does not equal more XP in these cases.

That's just for the multiple runes you get based on your RC level. The extra runes crafted by the Explorer's Ring also gives extra Xp.

At lvl 99 rc with 28 rune ess crafting at the air altar you would get

 

Without explorers ring --> 280 runes 140 xp

With explorers ring with 3 successful 10% bonus runes --> 283 runes 155 xp

 

I am 900000000000000001% sure of this, without a doubt.

Ah ok then! I wasn't 100% about the explorer's ring play in all this. Thank's for clarifying. :thumbup:

 

The fluctuation could be becuase of the update Jagex did where it's more random about getting bonus runes. It's more averaged now. Someone with level 70 runecrafting can get double runes for natures, maybe just not for every essence. As for the explorer's ring problem I don't know, as the other poster posted, it apparently was a glitch. Surprisingly it hasn't been fixed from your opinion though. Maybe hold off RC'ing till next week after a bug report.

no, it wasn't working when they released elite diaries. And yes, I crafted like 4k airs in that time, and didn't get any bonus runes or bonus exp. You can't have that bad luck for 4k runes.

With the Explorer ring 4 I am not getting the bonus xp and runes. Before I would get about 150-155 xp/invi of airs. Now with 27 essence I only get 135xp/invi. I think this is a bug and will hopefully be fixed soon. You use to have a 10% chance of gettign extra runes and you got xp for the extra runes.
