NightSky
While the skill magic has always been present in Gielinor it hasn't always been used. Specifically the combat aspect of magic has been neglected. This is usually a matter of economics more than anything else, let's face it using magic for combat is relatively expensive. I propose a change to the normal spell book, specifically a one step shift in combat rune usage. That is to say: Surge spells would use blood runes, wave use death, blast use chaos, bolt use mind and strike use elemental runes(they would still require the same amount of elemental runes in all cases). This would remedy many issue facing the use of combat magic in Gielinor today, such as:-this would make the use of magic cheaper-this would effect the market prices of all combat runes, hopefully making blood runes worth more than death consistently-this would return the runes to one type of combat rune to one level of spell(which was disrupted with the addition of surge spells which require blood and death runes)-this would increase the effect gauntlets from family crest have on the skill, these gauntlets have relatively little impact on magic as compared to the cooking and smithing skills Granted there would also be changes that would be perceived as negative, but overall I believe this would benefit the people of Gielinor. Please feel free to express your thoughts on this issue, preferably in a constructive way. Sir_Squab
I'd still be looking at over 400gp a surge. I'd rather save runes. Also, it makes little sense to me to cast elemental attack spells without elemental runes. I think the best idea would be to uber-boost RC. An example would be you'd craft multiple runes based on how the standard for crafting multiple air runes. It also keeps the skill useful and profitable at higher levels - although the increase in runes would bring down the price. Just one idea, a few flaws in it (for instance, do we need that many runes outside of combat runes?) Honestly, there's a number of ways Jagex could boost magic use by either boosting runecrafting or saving or reducing combat rune use in some way. Squab unleashes Megiddo!
