Ape
So, I had a quick sift through the recent thread pages on here and I am suprised to find that nobody has mentioned Lord of the Rings: Online! Basically, it's nearing the biggest MMORPG to date. Questing system is pretty good, a good player-base, nice physics and graphics and most of all... SORT OF FREE! Seeing a downfall in their population, they recently decided to scrap the monthly subscriptions and it's now just a one time fee when you buy the game (like Guildwars). LOTRO! It's been free in the US for a while, but only in recent months it's became free in the EU. Anyone played it? What're your thoughts? New sig to come! Nexaduro
I played it briefly. Liked the music system, much more difficult than Mabinogi, you actually feel it's an accomplishment when you get through playing the Mortal Kombat theme. In general it seemed pretty fun, might try it out now that it's free. 10:53 PM - retech9691: I feel the need10:53 PM - retech9691: To include many chasms in my story arc10:53 PM - Resistance: You mean plotholes? We sat outside the Tavern in Bree and it was outstanding. People actually come to watch. :P New sig to come!
tripsis
We actually used to have one or two threads about it but they were both like... 3 years ago  I've been playing LOTRO off and on since 2007. Right now I'm... not playing. Before I maxed out my characters, I really, really enjoyed the game. It was a lot of fun and it was entertaining. Before any of the expansion packs, I also loved the end-game content. Now I have a few reasons for not playing as much. First of all, before the level cap was raised the first time, I had like 5 characters maxed out. Once you get to that point, you are left with very little motivation to keep playing. When the level cap was raised, I maxed out my main character but then I kind of felt like "Why should I max out the others? I know what waits for me at endgame - grinding to get good gear and then that's it." So I lost interest in maxing all my characters. Furthermore, I don't like the new end-game raids :( NOTHING beats The Rift and the other, shorter instances from Shadows of Angmar. Whenever I can find a group I often do The Rift just for fun even though the armour is no longer the best of the game and is pretty pointless to try and get. - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog
