Tasks not updating

I got 59 magic the other day and went to tick off one of the tasks in the Lumby diary. I cast Fire Blast at a goblin by the Al Kharid gate, but didn't get the achievement update so I tried it at the goblin house and near the fishing shop in Lumby proper and still no update. I cast at the training dummies, too. and no update.

 

The other task that I'm having trouble with the the circus. Do I have to do all 3 perfectly?

 

Wondering if/what I'm doing wrong or if it's glitched.

Not sure about the first one, but I can answer the second one.

The distractions & diversions listed under the task interface are not actually tasks- they're just there as a reminder of other things you can do, and also to remind you when you can do some of them again. Notice that if you pull up the task list, under distractions & diversions it will say 0/0 completed, this is because you cannot technically 'complete' them.

That is really stupid on Jagex's part. I hadn't noticed the 0/0 bit, thank you.
