noble_aloof
Hi i kind of want to start playing the keyboard/piano but there's really no room in the main part of my house for a decent piano so i'll settle for a keyboard. Upon looking at different ones online it seems that an MIDI keyboard would be fun to play around with especially since i'm getting a new computer for christmas. My impression is that MIDI keyboards do not produce sound but instead send "messages" or notes to my computer which are then played from my computer's sound system. It also seems that i would need to buy or obtain some type of mixing software unless there is useful freeware. Could someone elaborate on this? is there anything else i need? how easy is it to set up and use the mixing software? edit: in regards to mixing software, i don't want to spend more than $100 on it. jasignhagj
Not sure about the software, but you would need a sound card with a MIDI port. Although they do make USB MIDI Keyboards now.
