Kinda need help here.

Was re installing windows 7 onto my laptop as it was all strange and acting weird. It decided that it wanted the F drive (recovery?) to be the main operating system as it couldn't delete the previous operating system from the C drive. So now upon loading up my laptop the bios makes me decide between the two operating systems and which one I want to run but both are the same.

I did try to do another re install to see whether that fixed but that just crashed and refused to install. The only problem is the F drive is tiny and cannot hold the files in there without them being deleted every over second but t won't let me i) re install the operating system or ii) delete those files in either the C or F drive.

So basically how do i delete the operating system on the F drive and get it back with a clean install onto the C drive?

First of all load up the new install of Windows 7. To delete the old OS you need to go into Computer. You will then see Local Disk (C:) and Local Disk (F:). Right click on Local Disk (F:) and click Format. This will delete EVERYTHING on that partition.

Unfortunately there's no way to join them up but you can still store files there or backup files to there. If you are unsure then don't do this until your questions have been answered ^^

Let me know how that works out for you.

Can't format either.

C states that something is open.

F states that the operating system is being run from it?

Ok then I would reinstall Windows 7 again. But when you do it delete both of the partitions and create new one(s). THAT WILL correct it. ^^

Do you want to do that though?

I suppose I have to unless there is other ways around fixing this problem.

However i did try this but it just crashed upon installing updates part.

Hmm that's odd. You could always try and find out what is running from C and stop it. Try restarting with Diagnostic Startup enabled. To do this type msconfig into the start menu search, it should be Selective Startup by default.

Will try that... Then I'm going to run another installion of the system to see if that does something.

I'm hoping as i can't install anything, window install client isn't working as well now.

Edit: Instillation CD now won't work either.

What you should do is :

- Change the boot order of your PC so that it tried to boot from the CD/DVD drive BEFORE the hardrive.

You have to change the boot order in the BIOS before the OS starts.

- When you turn the PC on boot from the CD (having the windows disk in)

- Follow the steps

Edit:

:D

Working after loading it through the bios thingy :)

However... msconfig says i still have an operating system on the D drive even though the C drive is still the main operating system.

Is it save for me to delete the operating system off the D drive without it going to [cabbage] again like it did last time? (via msconfig)

Also how do I format... It refuses to let me format the D drive >.<
